At Staten Island University Hospital, we use state-of-the-art technology for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric infectious diseases. We work collaboratively with a team of specialists to offer the best, most effective care in a comforting, child-friendly setting.


When your child has more than a mild illness, it’s good to know you have a team of healthcare specialists nearby. At Staten Island University Hospital, our pediatric infectious disease specialists provide consultations, expert treatment and follow-up for diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites, ranging from mild to severe.

What we treat

We offer inpatient and outpatient care for children from newborn to 21, with a wide range of infectious diseases, including:

  • Appendicitis
  • Bacterial infections of the brain, bones, joints, lungs, lymph nodes and skin
  • Croup
  • HIV infection
  • Influenza
  • Kawasaki syndrome
  • Lyme disease (suspected or proven)
  • Recurrent fever
  • Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
  • Tuberculosis (suspected or proven
  • Zika virus

A multidisciplinary approach to care

Our team includes two full-time, pediatric infectious disease specialists with access to additional onsite specialists and services including virology, pediatric radiology and interventional radiology. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, we work collaboratively to diagnose and treat your child’s disease and symptoms in a comforting, child-friendly setting.
